Description | Under the direction of the NEOnet Executive Director, the Student Database and Application Support Specialist is responsible for the delivery of technical support services on key applications provided to educational entities associated with the NEOnet consortium. This job has a FLSA status of Exempt.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Server operating systems including Windows Server 2012 and newer.
- Maintain the backup, tuning and performance of the core application databases.
- Provide high level technical support to NEOnet application support staff.
- The design, development, documentation, analysis, creation, testing or modification of computer systems or programs, including prototypes, based on and related to user or system design specifications.
- Intimately understand the design and function of each core database.
- Develop a working knowledge of the software applications that you are maintaining the database for to serve as ‘backup’ to other NEOnet student services staff members.
- Develop and maintain custom end user report requests on all student applications.
- Provide training to educational entities on data access and the tools used to gather data in a form useful to them.
- Perform upgrades to the core applications web and database components
- Provide installation, administration and end user support on centrally hosted core applications.
- Install, configure and administer new hardware and software solutions as required.
- Provide custom extracts and support for student application third-party vendors.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the NEOnet Executive Director.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum two years experience with Microsoft SQL server database design, installation, implementation and administration.
- Minimum two years experience with Microsoft IIS web server and Active Directory
- Experience with Microsoft SSIS packages.
- Extensive knowledge of computer operating systems and ability to use associated computer equipment.
- Significant experience in use of hardware and software tools needed to perform related tasks.
- Ability to read and understand software documentation.
- Ability to work cooperatively and harmoniously with many individuals of varying backgrounds and to handle information professionally and confidentially.
- Ability to organize tasks into a logical and purposeful sequence.
- Provide problem-solving initiative, cultivate resources available from other OECN sites, the Ohio Department of Education, and associated commercial vendors.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum of two year degree in Computer Science or equivalent.
- Professional certification in related areas.

The employee may occasionally be expected to move and/or lift 100 pounds or move but may obtain assistance or use equipment and carts to facilitate these tasks. - Work Environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently works near moving, mechanical parts and is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to occasionally loud.
